I like felafel. I like Rumi. I know the media is lying to me. I have never been in a war torn country but sometimes I imagine what it is like to walk through my city after it has been bombed or involved in some kind of ignorant shootout, and it hurts. It hurts to know many people have lost their homes, homes like mine that have held friends and family, people who are just trying to get through their days and back to their families and friends. And it hurts to know people have lost their friends and family members because my country is too small minded to try anything different when it is confronted. And I am sorry.
I pledge my allegiance
to the people planet earth
and to the soil, upon which we stand
one being, with humility
and equality for all.
